How to Dress for your Body Type
Hey my dudes! Today I am going to talk to you about how to dress for your body type. This is just a rough guide and you should always choose clothes that you like and feel good in as that is the most important.

How to Determine your Body Type
You can determine your body type based on the measurements of your shoulders, bust, waist and hips. You can measure these or just go based off of what you see in the mirror.

What Body Type am I?
An Apple Body Type
You would classify as having an apple body type if most of your weight and concentration is above the hips. Your bust and shoulders will be larger than your hips.
A Hourglass Body Type
Someone with an hourglass body type has hips and shoulders that are about the same size and a waist that is smaller than their hips and shoulders.
A Pear Body Type
A pear body type has a heavier bottom half than top half. Your hips will be larger than your shoulders.
A Rectangle Body Type
If your hips, waist and shoulders are all about the same size then you would be classified as a rectangle body type.
An Inverted Triangle Body Type
You would classify as someone with an inverted triangle body type if your shoulders are broader than your hips. This body type is the most athletic looking body type.

How to Dress for your Body Type
Please remember that this is just a rough guideline and you should always wear what you like and what you feel good in.

Apple Body Type
Since most of the weight is above the hips, you want to highlight your strengths. You want to wear clothes that highlight your legs and clothes with a V or deep V neck to create the illusion of an elongated torso. A-line or empire cuts are the best for you. Wearing printed or patterned dresses and jackets that add a layer to shift the focus is ideal for you. Monochromatic, dark looks with a full or 3/4th length sleeved dress and/or a flowy top will look wonderful on you. You could also wear a flared trouser or jean to create a balance. Choose tops without a lot of extra volume as well. Another key factor to looking and feeling your best is having the right bra. Go and have a fitting and figure out what size you really are and what styles you like because having the right bra can make you feel like a million bucks. Avoid tight, figure hugging dresses and tops with a lot of volume paired with skinny jeans. You want to ensure there is as much balance as possible. Also, be sure to pick clothes that have a higher waist belt.
Hourglass Body Type
Someone with an hourglass body type should pick clothes that highlight your small waist. You want to pick clothes that follow your curves and don’t work against them. When choosing dresses you want ones that cinch in at the waist, have a V, plunging V, or sweetheart neckline, and have an A-line bottom to really show off your curves. Body-con, belted and wrap dresses will also look wonderful on you. The same principles apply for shirts and skirts. You want to go for a V, plunging V, or sweetheart neckline and something that sits nicely on your curves. For a skirt you want to go for a nice A-line skirt or even a skirt that is high waisted and hugs your body. Avoid overly loose or baggy clothes as that will drown out your body shape.
Pear Body Type
My fellow pear shaped girls should wear outfits that enhance your lower body or balance out your top half with your lower half. To balance out your halves, opt for a wide legged pant or an A-line skirt with a patterned or ruffled top. Fit and Flare dresses are perfect to show off your shape. Skinny jeans with a loose top can help create the illusion of an hourglass body shape. Crop tops, sweetheart, V, deep-V, boat, or scoop necks will help balance out your bottom half. You should avoid tight fitting tops unless you want to highlight your bottom half.
Rectangle Body Type
As someone with a rectangle body type, you will have killer arms and legs so be sure to highlight those. You want to choose clothes that highlight your bottom and neckline to make your waist appear more defined. Choose A-line skirts, ruffled or embellished bottoms, shirts with detailing at the top, and dresses that cinch in in the waist and add definition to your bottom and neckline. Go for high waisted pants as this will help make your waist look smaller. Sleeveless, off the shoulder, sweetheart, and strapless necklines look great on you. Blazers and long jackets will also look fabulous on you. Avoid shapeless clothes.
Inverted Triangle Body Type
You inverted triangle shaped girls have the most athletic looking body. You have to try and add definition to your hips to balance out your broad shoulders. Straight-cut jeans and trousers are your go to pant. You should also choose dresses that have an inverted V look to them or are voluminous at the bottom – think A-line skirts and flowy dresses. You can choose to highlight your small hips by wearing pencil skirts and skinny jeans but just be sure to pair those with something very minimal up top as you don’t want to add any volume to your shoulders. V-neck lines work well and help create the illusion of narrower shoulders. Wearing thicker straps will also make your shoulders appear smaller. You should avoid having any patterns, layers, ruffles, or anything else that adds emphases up top on your upper half. Save all that for your trousers, jeans and skirts. Always try to keep it as minimal as you can up top.
