My Canada Day Outfit 2018

Happy Canada Day! This weekend is Canada Day weekend and with Canada Day weekend comes fireworks, drinks, and some tacky Canada swag. Today I am going to show you a Canada Day outfit that says you are a proud Canadian without screaming it at the top of your lungs.

I was super excited to create this look because I am LOVING red this season. I think it is partially to do with the fact that I am finally loving and embracing my ginger hair after years of resenting it (YES, everyone who said I would regret dying it was kind of right – I am still happy I experimented with colour though because I don’t think I would appreciate my hair as much now if I didn’t). In my opinion, red just looks so great with red hair. I also pulled a lot of red-spiration from Cheryl in Riverdale.

Now, onto the look. Unfortunately for you guys, a lot of this look is quite old BUT I will find dupes and alternatives for you so do not worry!

The Skirt

I love this skirt and have had it for a loooong time. I bought it from Dynamite years ago and have loved it since the day I bought it. The colour is gorgeous and vibrant and the shape is super flattering. This skirt hides any insecurities you might have in your mid-section. I was able to find some nice red skirts on ASOS – A, B, C, D.

The Shirt

I love a good halter top, especially on a super hot day (it was over 30 degrees Celsius the day I shot this). I have also had this number for a long while and I love it because I can pull the red or the blue out in the top depending on how I style it. This makes it feel like a different shirt every time I style it. Here is a similar top from Forever 21.

The Bag

This bag has been with me for a lot. I received it as a high school graduation gift. This bag has been with me to University, to the UK, and it is still popping up here or there. This bag has definitely seen better days but honestly it looked brand new for so long! The texture in the leather helps hide any imperfections it may have picked up along the way and also hides any dirt that happens to get on the leather. This Michael Kors number has done me so well. Realistically, I should probably let it retire but I love it way too much to ever get rid of it. I am not the biggest fan of white bags because of how dirty they get but this one really has my heart and I am so thankful I received it. This and this are the closest I could find from Michael Kors. I found this inexpensive alternative from Forever 21 as well.

The Shoes

These shoes are also wonderful. I have had them for a while now and I still love them. They are leather converse instead of canvas which is a nice change. The only downfall to these is I get black marks on the tongue from the laces rubbing but you can’t really see them when you wear them. I’m sure if you took the time to wipe them down, the black marks would come right off but since you can’t really see them, it doesn’t bother me.

The Socks

Usually socks wouldn’t warrant their own section but I have had a lot of people reach out to me asking if I got tattoos. The answer to this is no. They are these stocking like socks from India that are super nice to wear when it is hot out. They add a cool accent to the look and make people double take. Shout out to the lovely Kochhar’s for bringing these and many other pairs of socks to me all the way from New Delhi.

I love the way this look turned out. I love all the red in it. It definitely shows off the Canadian spirit in a subtler way than the stereotypical Canada Day t-shirts. I love that you can also rock this outfit on any summer day – not just Canada Day.

Hopefully this look gives you some inspiration for your Canada Day look.
