Falling Back in Love with Grunge
Hello friends,
Recently I have been extremely inspired by the 90s (as usual tbh) but this time I’ve fallen back in love with grunge (Thanks Pinterest).
All things leather, jean and band merch are right up my street right now. I am even considering buying a pair or two of fishnets (I know, crazy) and maybe even a choker (who am I?). Don’t get me wrong, I am still a huge lover of all things colour but I am finding new ways to incorporate it in a subtle way.
I’ve been loving wearing a neutral look with either my bright red high top converse or my rainbow checkerboard vans. I’ve also been wearing a bright sock too to add even more colour. Ideally, I would wear a coloured lip as well but my lips are WAY too dry for that right now (Thanks accutane).
I’ll team these bright accessories with a band tee, jean and/or leather, just like in the outfit featured here.
Layering is also a lot of fun, especially when transitioning from winter to spring. I’ve been layering turtlenecks under tees or dresses to add some extra warmth and then throwing a jacket over top of that. Layering gives the outfits a lot more dimension and interest in my opinion.
The Outfit
Now lets get on to the outfit I am wearing. Underneath it all I am wearing a plain black turtleneck that is on the sheerer side. I got this from H&M forever ago but you can find one pretty much anywhere. Next, I have my Nirvana tee from Hot Topic. I love this tee because 1) Nirvana is great and 2) it has a pop of yellow which is deffo one of my favourite colours right now. My jean jacket was thrifted forever ago but if you want one similar there is a ton on the market right now both in mainstream retail stores (like this one from Gap) and in thrift stores. I definitely recommend checking out the mens section too because they tend to fit more oversized and boxy, which I love. Next, are my jeans. They are a pair of Power Straight jeans from Old Navy (similar). They are SO comfortable! I love them! My socks are from Topshop (similar) and my shoes are from Vans. I love this look so much and want to rock it again but with a yellow turtle neck instead!
I am excited about this recent burst of inspiration from 90s grunge and look forward to exploring it more. Follow my journey on Instagram to see what other grunge inspired looks I come up with! Also, if you want to check out my 90s board or outfit inspo board on Pinterest, you definitely should!
Thanks for tuning in! Talk to you guys later (hopefully in my Ecuador post)!
