The Long Hunt for Dungarees
Hey, my dudes!
So, I have done a bit of a thing and decided to take a stab at writing a blog. For as long as I can remember I have loved fashion. I used to dress my friends and sister up in what I thought were the coolest outfits (I was 11 or 12 and really had no idea) and then make them do a photoshoot with me. I read any magazine I could get my hands on (and by read, I mean look at all the outfits). When I was a child I remember watching What Not to Wear any chance I got and was always excited when I had a sick day because I could watch that show with my grandparents.
That being said, I have loved clothes for as long as I can remember and have always had way more than I ever needed. I have been complimented on for my outfit choices often enough as a teenager that I have taken notice. I have also been asked for advice quite often and decided to start documenting my favourite outfits and telling you all a bit about them in the hopes we can all inspire each other a little.
Today I am talking to you about dungarees (otherwise known as overalls, but I don’t fancy that word too much). It has been a struggle trying to find a pair that I feel look good on me and that I am comfortable in, until recently. When I was in Montréal for the long weekend I took a look around Simons on the hunt for the perfect trench (which after over a year of searching, I still have yet to find) when I stumbled upon a pair of dungarees. I was nervous, because they were skinny instead of a boyfriend fit, that I wouldn’t like them but I decided to try them on anyways. To my luck, they fit and I actually enjoyed the way they looked.
Dungarees are a fantastic way to spice up a basic, but still great, jeans and tee-shirt or jeans and jumper combo. They add a bit of grunge to the look, which I personally love, but they also just make you feel great. I paired my dungarees with a plain black turtle neck shirt, my KISS boots (according to my mom), a red bag and of course, my favourite, a red baker boy hat. I kept the shirt nice and simple to really let the accessories do the talking.
If you are nervous about colour but want to start incorporating it into your wardrobe I suggest buying a bag in your favourite colour and adding it to simple outfits (like jeans and a black tee). Once you are comfortable with that, you can try incorporating another accessory of the same colour, like I did, or of a complimentary colour. Colour has the ability to add a playful element to any outfit which is a great way to brighten up your day.

And there you have it, my first ever blog post. I hope you enjoyed it.
I am completely in love with my new dungarees and I hope everyone can find their own perfect pair. Here is a link of some dungarees for you to take a look at.
Dungarees have been around for decades. Heck, I even have an old pair of my mom’s in my closet back home. Tragically, they don’t fit me but maybe one day they will… or I’ll just get them altered but who am I kidding, that takes a ton of effort.
Anyways, I hope to chat with you all again soon.
